Words are used to make meaning of what our senses take in. They get placed creatively together to communicate story. Story is an art we use every day. Story helps us retain information and remember our past, explain our present, and predict our future. I use words to reminisce those nostalgic moments or to understand what could happen. I paint a picture with words, so others might see, smell, hear, taste, and touch without actually experiencing what it was like themselves.
Each person will filter a word through their perspective, which means words can be interpreted differently, creating new meanings behind a word. We can see this visually with Inktober. You are given a word, which inspires a picture. There’s a variety of drawings because each artist interprets that one word differently. You may agree or disagree, adding new meaning to a word.

Let’s look at power. Do you see a superhero, saving the day? A doctor with powerful knowledge? A weakling who is trying to gain power? A parent scolding their child for saying a “bad” word? What about a drawing of text: words!? Words have powerful meanings!
I tried to think of what I represent. What is my artist name, or more accurately what represents the work I do? #words2art
I’m so excited to introduce, my words, my stories, and my art! It’s more than just a word, but what that word means in both text and image. Each month will represent a word, and the art of writing and drawing will help interpret what that word means to me. It’s not a new concept…I can see this in Inktober, or even in the Webster dictionary. What’s new about #words2art, is just that—this combination of words, the image, and how I’ll make it my own.
What words define you?
